After obtaining the First Prize at Paris’ Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique and following several years studying with Pierre Jamet, Elisabeth Colard collaborated as harpist with several different orchestras, including the National Orchestra of France, the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Monnaie Opera in Brussells, in Bordeaux, etc. Following this fruitful period as a freelance musician, she was named Solo Harpist with the Euskadi Symphony Orchestra in San Sebastián, Spain. She would hold this position for 36 years. For 15 years she has also taught classes in orchestral repertoire in the Musikene (High Conservatory of Music of the Basque Country), also situated in San Sebastián.

Currently Elisabeth Colard is involved in the edition of various volumes whose purpose will be the formation of harpists specialized in orchestral and operatic repertoire.

In addition, she is the author of the Gioccarpa Collection, which contains more than fifty transcriptions for harp ensembles or chamber music with harp, all of which are published with the same editorial.
