After a first prize at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and several years of studies with Pierre Jamet, Elisabeth Colard played in various freelance orchestras (National de France, National de Belgique, Bordeaux, Pays de la Loire etc....) and was appointed principal harp of the Basque Symphony Orchestra in San Sebastián, Spain, a position she held for 36 years.

For 15 years she taught the orchestral repertoire at Musikene, the Superior Conservatory of Music of the same city.

Currently retired, she is editing several collections dedicated to the preparation of harpists for the symphonic and operatic repertoire. La harpe au sein de l'orchestre.

She is also at the origin of the Gioccarpa collection, transcriptions for harp ensembles or chamber music with harp, published by the same publisher where more than fifty scores have already been published.
